Our Trip Around the World

As we travel, our tales and adventures will be published on this site. We have organized our information into four main categories. Travelogue - the sites, sounds and smells of our experiences at each destination. Pictures - selected snapshots of our travels. Itinerary - our route. Sundries - a collection of travel tips and information.

Other categories include an introduction to both of us in the About Us section, and some pictures from our trip to Thailand in 2002.

The Adventure....
  • 5 continents, 17 countries
  • 190 days...
  • 24 flights, over 40,000 air miles, and countless more by foot, bus, boat and train.
  • One Himalaya trek - scrapped because of time and political unrest
  • Two battles with travellers diaherrea (no more hopefully)
  • Half of our life savings

  • Where Are We Now?

We're home now, back on frozen Canadian soil. Tony has started work back in Chetwynd. Krista is sitting in life-limbo for the month of March, awaiting a wedding in Mexico, then returning out to the Wild West to begin life as a student. Please feel free to drop us a lineat any time!

We completed this around-the-world journey in just over six months. We spent our last 24-hours exploring the great city and awesome skyline of Hong Kong (pictures). Thailand, which preceded Hong Kong, was spectacular, as always. We have a ton of picturesphotos and traveloguewords about this wonderful country, especially from our days in Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

A last minute decision had us in Cambodia for a week, exploring the unimposing capital of Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap, home of the Angkor Wat. Check out our travelogue and pictures).

We arrived into Thailand from Peninsular Malaysia (travelogue and pictures) during Chinese New Year of the Monkey. Our journey up the Malaysian Peninsula started with a brief sojourn to the the island paradise of Singapore (travelogue and pictures). Our brief stopover in Hong Kong only gave us enough time to enjoy the airport; we have picturesof our overnight stay on the relatively comfortable airport floor!

The entire Southeast Asia journey was preceeded by a two week stay in India (travelogue and pictures).

Before India, we spent a much-too-short eight days in Nepal, and a budget-blowing two weeks in London (Nepal pictures and travelogue). We broke our three weeks in London up with a brief week-long trip to Rome. Read our London travelogue or our pictures. Like London, Rome was amazing, and if you would like to hear about it, check out our Italy Travelogue, or our pictures.

Before London, we were travelling through Egypt during Rammadan (Journal, and pictures). Before that, we were enjoying the numerous sights and sounds in the friendly city of Barcelona for 8 days (NEW pictures). In addition, we were in historic Greece for 24 days (pictures), Madrid for brief stint of 4 days, Chile for 20 days, and Peru for 28 days. Don`t forget to check out our Peru pictures or Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) pictures.

Check out Cairo during Ramadan! This was the view (and sound!) outside the window of our hotel during the days of Ramadan celebrations! This nonsense went all night; talk about no peace. This file is quite large (10 MB), so be warned it may take some time to download.
Check out Robin and I doing Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" in London! The visual is quite dark, but you will definitely capture our voices...
